Tree work in Eudlo

Slipping hillsides and gravel roads

Eudlo was among the worst affected areas when heavy rain fell from February to May 2022. When the council later listed its major landslip sites, Perrins Road at Eudlo was one of them. On steep or sodden ground a tree is assessed for soil movement and a shifting root plate before work starts, and heavy machinery stays off the slope until it dries.

Some Eudlo properties are reached on gravel roads. The state's roads and tracks data maps Mossy Bank Road as six segments, with five of them recorded as unsealed. Trucks, chippers and stump grinders on roads like that are scheduled around wet weather, and a quote allows for slower travel and the chance of rutting the surface.

Eudlo questions

Alfred's floodwater and the shade trees in town

Does the creek flood into yards here?

It can. When ex-tropical cyclone Alfred's rain lingered in March 2025, the water flooded at least one home and cut several roads in Eudlo, stopping just short of the general store's door. Trees on creek-side blocks can stand in saturated soil for days after that, which makes them more likely to topple, and the soft ground can hold up a truck or stump grinder.

Who trims the big shade trees in the middle of town?

The council. Its upgrade of Rosebed Street, Eudlo's main street, made room down the centre for three large shade trees in new garden beds, so they are council street trees. Private tree work along there keeps clear of their young roots and canopies.
