Storm damaged trees on the Sunshine Coast
Hanging limbs and split trunks come first, because they can still let go. Whatever is already on the ground can wait until the tree above it is safe.
Storm damage
Dealt with in this order
Anything still hanging
A limb caught up in the canopy can drop at any moment and without warning, so it is brought down before anyone works underneath it.
Splits and cracks
A fork that has torn open or a trunk that has cracked is carrying a load it was never shaped for. It is made safe or taken down before the clean up starts.
What is already down
Timber on the lawn, the roof or the fence is cut up and cleared once the danger above it has gone.
How it works
What happens after you get in touch
The council question is answered before the price, and nothing is booked until you have the quote in writing and have said yes to it.
- 1
Tell us about the tree
The suburb, what the tree stands near and what you would like done with it.

- 2
Someone comes to look
A tree contractor who covers your area sees the tree, the access and whatever is underneath it.

- 3
The council position is checked
Lot size, how close the tree is to the house and the mapping on the block decide whether an application comes first.

- 4
Quoted in writing
Scope, timber, stump and date set out on one page. Nothing is booked until you accept it.

Storm questions
Insurance, and what to do now
What should I do before anyone arrives?
Keep people and pets out from under the tree and away from anything that came down with it, and photograph the damage from a safe spot if you can.
Will my insurer want anything from me?
Usually photographs taken before the clean up and an itemised quote for the tree work. Check with them before anything is moved if you can.
Can a cyclone really reach this far south?
Near enough. Ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March 2025 the council warned of gale force gusts across the Sunshine Coast coastline and hinterland, and after the November 2025 hailstorm the SES was called out mostly for damaged roofs and fallen trees.
Is it worth having the other trees checked?
Often. A tree that came through a storm can hold a cracked limb for months before it lets go, and the wind that broke one tree usually worked on the others in the yard too.
