Tree work in Marcus Beach
Winding streets through the dunes
The Coastal Communities code in Noosa Plan 2020 describes Marcus Beach's curvilinear streets enclosed by undulating topography and the dune system beside them. On streets that wind and roll like that, where the truck and chipper can park, and how far the branches must be carried to reach them, is worked out before the job is booked.
The same code keeps the suburb's low density beachside character by retaining mature vegetation, with homes in a secluded, vegetated setting. On a block being developed, keeping and pruning the big trees is the starting point, and taking one out needs a stronger case.
The suburb is also framed and enclosed by the high dune system, the one real gap in the run of development between Sunshine Beach and Peregian Beach. Trees here root in dune sand, which affects how firmly they hold in a strong onshore wind and how far their roots spread under lawns and paths when a stump is ground out.

How it works
What happens after you get in touch
The council question is answered before the price, and nothing is booked until you have the quote in writing and have said yes to it.
- 1
Tell us about the tree
The suburb, what the tree stands near and what you would like done with it.

- 2
Someone comes to look
A tree contractor who covers your area sees the tree, the access and whatever is underneath it.

- 3
The council position is checked
Lot size, how close the tree is to the house and the mapping on the block decide whether an application comes first.

- 4
Quoted in writing
Scope, timber, stump and date set out on one page. Nothing is booked until you accept it.

Marcus Beach questions
Burns on the high dunes, a creek reserve next door
Is the national park behind the houses ever burnt?
Yes, on purpose. The state parks service's fire history shows a planned burn on the Marcus High Dunes in Noosa National Park, lit in June 2016 to manage fuel. On the blocks facing it, the useful work is lifting low limbs, taking out dead wood and cutting back any branch that reaches the roof.
Can neighbours prune trees on the creek reserves?
No. Noosa Council's open space data lists the Marcus Creek Bushland Reserve, a reserve for environmental purposes, and the Mahogany Bushland Reserve, both in the council's care. Owners whose lots back onto either cannot prune or remove reserve trees, so on those blocks the job begins with where the boundary runs and which side each tree is on.
